Interview Questions To Ask

Interviewing

Interviews: for some they are piece of cake, for others more so stollen. But if you cross over to the other side and ask the questions, it can often be just as challenging. A place that understands this challenge is one of the top Oxford conference venues, Oxford Abingdon Hotel.

Whilst holding many of their own internal interviews in their smart meeting rooms, Oxford Abingdon Hotel also regularly plays host to a number of other external interviews. Over time they have picked out their top 20 questions which have helped them sift through reams of talent and form their friendly and professional workforce, which they are incredibly proud of today. Start with general questions…

  1. Tell me about yourself?
  2. Why do you want to work for us?
  3. Why do you want to leave your current job?

Begin to delve deeper…

  1. What has been your greatest achievement?
  2. What are your main strengths?
  3. What are your weaknesses?

Focus in on skills…

  1. Tell me about your degree?
  2. How is your qualification relevant?
  3. Do you have any other qualification which are relevant to the job?
  4. What skills do you have which set you apart from other candidates?

Introduce some competence questions…

  1. Have you ever come up with an idea to solve a long-term problem? Tell me about it
  2. Tell me about an occasion when you had to say 'no'?
  3. What was the hardest decision you have made?
  4. Tell me how you deal with busy times at work?

Drop in a few unexpected or difficult questions…

  1. What is the most stressful thing you could face at work?
  2. What do you do if everyone disagrees with you?
  3. How well do you take criticism?

Finally, few questions to wrap things up…

  1. What was the hardest decision you have made?
  2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
  3. Why should we appoint you rather than another candidate?
