It is interesting that Google Authorship has not yet experienced its true potential yet. Google Authorship is slightly hyped up by Google, and used only by authors and bloggers who see its value. Google Authorship may eventually account for and hold great credibility for Google rankings. Google Authorship has the power to verify that an author is the true author who originally wrote an article. The Author could keep track of the amount of articles they have on a variety of websites on the Internet. As Google Authorship develops and evolves, a person who writes a large amount of articles on a variety of topics may gain influence and become recognized as an authority. Google Authorship combined with Google Plus Circles may help build up a network of authors and verify that you are a person who is recognized, respected, and seen as an authority.
While Google has not taken an official stance on Google Authorship, there are plenty of hints that it is important for ranking. Many blogs and websites are spraining up with an author photo after linking with Google Plus, often denoting that this is the person who wrote the article or who owns the blog or website. Google may take into account how many articles an author has, what types of websites the author has contributed to, and even evaluating the quality of the article that the author has written. Google Authors who use images, video, infographics, and other assets are more likely to engage visitors than those who do not use such assets. Google may have the ability and tools to determine the popularity of an article and rank the importance of an Author based on these factors including how many popular articles an author has written and the author’s knowledge of the subject the author is writing about. Authors who are popular and have a greater audience are more likely to be trusted as an authority and granted a better rating in search engines.
